The Elkin Fire Department is a municipal agency serving the Town of Elkin, a small community on the Yadkin River near the intersection of Surry, Wilkes and Yadkin County boundaries in the Yadkin Valley region of northwestern North Carolina. Our fire department has served this former mill town for over 100 years. We are a combination department with volunteer, part-time and full-time staff.
In addition to all hazard emergency response efforts, our department provides fire code enforcement, community service, and a community risk reduction program. Our department also supports neighboring communities through the use of mutual aid and automatic aid provisions; and these departments provide assistance to Elkin Fire Department as needed.
Our station is located at 304 North Front Street, within walking distance from Historic Downtown Elkin. We welcome visitors. We also encourage you to schedule a tour and fire safety presentation for your school, childcare center, or civic group. Please click here to complete a request form.
We serve Elkin with pride in our purpose, upholding the values of the fire service. We honor the dedication of our predecessors while maintaining a vision for the future of our organization and the community we serve.
